About The Croc Bag

The Croc Bag is a specialized capture and restraint tool designed for the safe handling of crocodilians developed by Peter Prodromou in collaboration with crocodile experts from America and Mexico and has been successfully tested and used by many institutions and individuals working with crocodiles.

Its primary function is to simultaneously cover the eyes, secure the jaws, and restrain the body, significantly reducing stress for the animal while ensuring maximum safety for the handler. One of its key advantages is the ability to capture crocodiles directly from the water, a crucial feature given that studies indicate stress levels increase once the water in an enclosure is drained. Additionally, the Croc Bag helps prevent spinning, a high-impact stress reaction commonly observed with the noose method, which is linked to muscular acidosis and elevated blood lactate levels. A comparative study by James Szewczyk and Amy Stout has confirmed the effectiveness in significantly reducing negative capture related behaviours, of which, typically corresponds to lactic acid build up.

Made from a strong, coated fabric in a bright colors, the bag remains highly visible, even in murky water. It features an innovative lacing system, designed by veterinarian Sergio V. Peredo, allowing the top to open for medical procedures while keeping the head secured. Furthermore, the Croc Bag is suitable for short transports, with the crocodile safely wrapped inside and supported by four detachable webbing handles for easier carrying.

Catching crocodiles with a capture bag may sound strange at first glance... after all, we are all familiar with the methods involving ropes and courageously jumping on the animal.

Our method is intended as an additional option.

The Croc Bag is also suitable for some other species

Not only crocodilians can be safely handled with the Croc Bag, but also other species like big monitor lizards, Iguana or Tegu.

About The Croc Muzzle

The Croc Muzzle is a very versatile invention and can be used in addition to a noosing technique and provides eye protection that does not slip off the crocodile´s head. Who doesn´t know the thrown wet towels to ristrict the crocodile´s view during capture and restraint?

The Croc Muzzle offers several benefits at the same time: it reduces the visual stimuli and also has a noise reducing effect. The jaws remain closed due to the conical form.

It can be applied from a distance using ropes or a push-on device and can be removed also from a distance.

About The Leg restraints

Using leg and arm restraints aim for reducing the pressure at the crocodile´s limbs during restraint. Restriction of movement for transport or handling is often reached by using ropes or tapes where there can be issues for blood circulation or abnormal joint position. We are working on solutions for suitable leg restraints which are easy to apply and retract and also add safety and welfare for the animal.
